Informed Advocates of Michigan (iAM) began as an idea shared among a diverse group of young, civic-minded individuals committed to challenging the status quo and reshaping the future of Michigan. Each of us came from different backgrounds, carrying unique perspectives and life experiences, but we were united by a shared passion for change, political engagement, and community empowerment. We saw firsthand the barriers that prevent people from having a voice in decisions affecting their lives, and we recognized a growing disconnect between communities and institutions.

Our journey started with conversations about how we could break down these barriers and help create a Michigan where every individual feels informed, empowered, and heard. Together, we envisioned a future where civic involvement is not just encouraged but accessible to all, where leaders emerge from within communities, and where collective action can truly make an impact. We believed—and still believe—that sustainable change is built from the ground up, led by informed advocates who understand and reflect the needs and aspirations of their communities.

Driven by this purpose, we established Informed Advocates of Michigan (IAM). Our mission is simple but ambitious: to inspire, educate, and empower Michigan’s next generation of leaders. We’re working to create spaces where people can come together, share ideas, and take action—breaking down the walls of bureaucracy and opening the doors to grassroots advocacy.

Through our programs, partnerships, and outreach, IAM strives to build a Michigan that values every voice, fosters connection across generations, and empowers people to lead meaningful change. We are not just responding to current challenges; we’re working proactively to build the future we believe Michigan deserves.
